The New England
Chapter of
The Explorers Club
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all"

NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER
ANNUAL ROUND TABLE
Tuesday, October 4, 2005
Dear Explorers and Friends:

For the past five years, The New England Chapter has celebrated the time-honored tradition of coming together in a round table forum to share new perspectives on exploration, lessons learned, and tales from afield. Please join us for our Fifth Annual Explorers Round Table, to be held on Tuesday, October 4th. Whether you recount expeditions past, offer sage counsel, share artifact treasures, or simply show your scars, please join us for an evening of camaraderie and cheer.

As Chapter Chair Greg Deyermenjian notes: "Our New England Chapter Roundtable is one of our most important events, because it allows us to indulge in what is the spiritual lifeblood of the explorer: the sharing of ideas, interests, experiences, places, people and feelings. We all have not only a right to put forth our exploration thoughts to our peers; we, indeed, have a duty to do so, to allow our peers the benefit of our experiences and thoughts. For, we all have built, and are building, our accomplishments and our projects on the foundation of what others before us have done, and have, in various ways, told us about. Also, know ye that all ideas and experiences are welcome at the Roundtable. One doesn't need to do extensive preparation or have the CV of a Sir Richard Francis Burton. Come and talk, in whatever manner comes naturally to you, with your fellow explorers."

This Tuesday, October 4th evening event will be held at the Doubletree Guest Suites Hotel, overlooking the Charles river and adjacent to the Harvard Business School near the Cambridge/Allston on/off ramp to the Mass Pike (400 Soldiers Field Road, Boston, Tel: 1-617-783-0090). You may park in the hotel garage for a $5 flat fee, payable at the front desk. The Social Hour begins at 7PM in the hotel?s well-appointed (cash) bar and lounge on the second floor, leading to the convening of the round table around 8PM. Food can be ordered from the lounge menu. There is a $10 donation per person requested to help defray the costs of room rental, which is payable at the event. All guests, friends, family, and interested parties are welcome. If you let us know ahead of time that you intend to come, that would be helpful; but regardless, do come. Dress as you wish. For any further info, or to let us know that you are coming, please contact me at 401-247-4944 or markallio@cox.net. Our chapter website is http://www.neexplorersclub.org.

Sincerely,
