The World Covered in Ice |

| Imagine our globe completely covered with ice. Equatorial glaciers flow to frozen seas. Our world is locked in an icy death grip for millions of years, a snowball earth. This is science fiction, right? Geological evidence now points clearly to a time, nearly a billion years ago when all the world's seas were capped with ice a kilometer thick, and the land was covered with snow, a time before multicellular life existed. |

| Dr. Dan Schrag, Harvard University Geologist, has been gathering new evidence for the radical idea of snowball earth from the deserts of Namibia and around the world. He will present the current state of the theory, including why we are not still frozen, at a meeting of the New England Chapter of The Explorers Club on Tuesday, March 11. It will be an exciting journey into the earth's ancient history. In a departure from our usual venue, this Tuesday March 11th evening event will be held at The Harvard Faculty Club in Harvard Square, Cambridge, courtesy of New England Chapter (and HFC) member David Agee. Please see below additional information regarding parking and directions. The Harvard Faculty Club is not to be confused with The Harvard Club. The Harvard Faculty Club |
